Board of Directors Meeting
July 10, 2000
The monthly meeting of the Avocet Board of
Directors was called to order at 6:00PM on Monday, July 10th, 2000, at the
Avocet Clubhouse with Andrew Goodspeed presiding, Lara Foreman and Frank
Boduch present. Bob Elliott, Chairperson of the Finance Committee, also
Minutes of the 6/12/2000 Board meeting were
read and accepted on the motion of Lara. Seconded by Andrew.
COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR - No one
Sports Committee - No bids have been
received yet for tennis court repairs & maintenance. e.g., fences,
windscreens, surfaces and lighting. Sue Juliano to coordinate bid
activity. Andrew to follow-up.
Pool Committee - Discussed purchase
of new umbrellas for pool area. Authorized expenditure of up to $500 for
purchase of four umbrellas. Motion by Andrew, seconded by Lara.
Finance Committee - Bob Elliott has
begun working on long-term capital forecast and year 2001 operating
budget. Preliminary budget estimates will be submitted at the next BOD
meeting scheduled for August 7th, 2000. Frank to assist. - Information
Committee: - The Architectural Change Request form is now available on the
website. - Still need to prompt committees to submit more information for
communicating to community. - This committee is still in need of
Architecture Committee - This
committee is undergoing reorganization due to recent resignations. Karen
Elliott and at least 6 other members now make up this committee. Lara is
providing transitional guidance.
Kids Club Committee - Nothing new
Security Committee - A meeting of
Block Captains has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 19th, 7:30PM, at the
clubhouse. This meeting is intended to assure ongoing COPS program
effectiveness in the Avocet community.
Landscape Committee - Nothing new to
Social Committee - BOD suggested
that thought be given to a small, low-key, Labor Day/Summer mixer. Frank
Covenants Committee - Draft of new
covenants and bi-laws are in the hands of attorney for review and

regarding their lot and lack of maintenance. Now 30 days overdue. Sue
Juliano will be asked to follow-up. Andrew will address a new letter
- Monitoring and self-policing of
properties within our community is undergoing organizational
structure. Lara will follow-up with this new committee.
- A new source for doing repair and
maintenance projects is needed. Andrew has someone in mind and will
